How much work is required for the assembly of the Hex Kit?
The CentrePost comes already fully assembled no work is required for the key element of the Hex.
The spreaders have the eyebolt already attached. However the customer needs to paint the spreaders for full UV resistance and attach the P-Clamps and D-Rings for the wire support.
The wire element and Kevlar cords need to be cut and assembled and by the customer in accordance with our manual. Please note that the manual cannot be published and will be shipped to the customer individually for each order.
The balun also comes as a kit and needs to be assembled too.

How thick are your spreader tubes?
All our fibreglass tubes are 3mm thick which provides high strength.

Is your hexbeam UV resistant ?
All components have been designed with Australian UV radiation in mind. All components have been chosen to be UV resistant such as the spreader inserts on the StarHub. However, the spreaders need to be pained by the customer in order to reach full UV resistance.

When is additional anodising required?
Anodising is treatment of the surface to mitigate oxidation / corrosion. While we always recommend anodising as an extra layer of protection, living near the coast with higher sodium content in the air makes aluminium more sensitive to corrosion. StarHub and Centre Post come always anodised however, centre tube, hub tubes, flanges and stub mast tube are NOT anodised. If you wish them to be anodised, please let us know when you order your Hex.

Do I need a balun?
Yes, we highly recommend a choke balun to eliminate common mode current issues.
The balun comes as a kit and is not included in the price and needs to be ordered separately.
You can also build your own balun, it’s up to you.
